Over years, manufacturers have gained licenses to immortalize Batman into miniature plastic figurines. With over 400 and counting, Batman has the Action Figure world covered like no other. They include Batman water pistol, aurora Batmobile, Bat-copter, Super powers batman among others. ![]() Some of these are expensive and quite popular. In the times that followed, Batman has continued to be a sustained representative on the toy aisles in stores. However, toy production became more complex and sophisticated in the 1960’s partly catapulted by the staggering popularity of the 1966 Batman TV Series, and an avalanche of Batman related toys were released then. Within a year of his introduction, Batman debuted on some licensed products. Batman is clearly a winner in licensing fees for global retail sales in merchandise at $494 million as at March 2016. In 2013, digital and print sales of comics and graphic novels hit a high $870 million in North America. Over time, his costume has changed, different Batmobiles have been introduced and different supporting characters and villains introduced thereby meaning every generation has a Batman they can relate to.Įxposure of superheroes through multiple media such as film, T.V, online bookstores and video games attract new and big fan bases which provide a boost to comic book sales in the industry. At 79, Batman is still raking in billions of dollars due to merchandization. Originally referred to as Bat-man, the character is also denoted by such epithets as the World’s Greatest Crusader, the Caped Crusader and the Dark Knights. Before Batman, only Superman had achieved notable levels of success as a fictional superhero. Bob Keane and Bill Finger were the creators and masterminds of this superstar superhero. Batman first appeared in American comic books published by DC comics in 1939. The story about Batman is intriguing as it’s purely nostalgic. That Batman remains the most popular and highly successful fictional superhero is not in doubt.
